Bhubaneswar, 27th April 2015: The health & family Welfare department, GoO, is striving hard to improve the health indicators under maternal health, child health and adolescent health and providing a comprehensive continuum of care in collaboration with other concerned departments and stakeholders.
Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) has organized a close group advocacy workshop-cum-discussion in IMA House, Capital Hospital Campus, Bhubaneswar today with aim to find out possibilities for advocating community involvement. The point persons like Dr. Pasant Kumar Saboth, Senior Programme Officer, UNDP-NIPI, Newborn Project, Odisha (NHM), Mr. SusantNayak, Senior Consultant, Community Process, NHM-Odisha, Ms. Amita Patra, Assitant Director, SIRD, Panchhayati Raj Department, Mr. Khyamakara Swain, Secretary, OVHA and Dr. BishwaranjanP urohit, State Project Coordinator, VHAI-Aparajita, Odisha along with senior persons from concerned departments organizations, Civil Societies, NGOs participated in the workshop.
In the workshop, discussion was made forinstitutionalization of community driven health interventions and intensifying community involvement and ownership of the programme or schemes through community representatives. The dignitaries were focused on strengthening the Gram Sabha, PalliSabha and standing committee along with demand generation of among the community for more involvement in health planning process. Emphasis was given for strengthening of capacity building of community representatives through proper mentoring mechanism and bottom up approach for involving more common people in to the health planning
