Passenger waiting sheds planned for Bhubaneswar

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will construct 79 passenger waiting sheds in public-private-partnership (PPP) mode.

According to BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena since the number of city buses has increased in city it is pertinent to ensure more convenient to passenger.

Instead of seats, there will be steel railing at the bus stops, said a BMC official. “The design of bus sheds will be changed. This is being done to keep the sheds away from anti-socials, who park themselves there and create nuisance,” said the official.

Including the present 81 passenger waiting sheds, the city will have nearly 160 waiting sheds.

The BMC too is renovating some waiting sheds which will be completed in next 2-3 months.

At present, more than 80 city buses and many private buses are plying in the capital city.
